Songs I'm inspired by that I want to make a song based on.

Note: this is a non-exhaustive list, as I can't think of all the songs in memory that I really like. I don't want to spam because I know we all have busy lives (myself included), and I don't want to have to think about too many things at once for the moment.

My main intention is to be able to write a song that I can use for more than just personal enjoyment (main thing I resent is that I can only use them for that, if they're even available on their respective platforms at all), based on these. I tried approaching someone about this, at least for a fresh pair of ears, and they described the following to the best of their ability, with music theory commonalities:

• Lots of major scales used (Ionian, this was not obvious to me since I find more than just basic music theory a bit intimidating)

• Mid-tempo, around 120 bpm

• Rock sounding with lots of guitar

• 4/4 time signature

• "Simple drum pattern" (alternating kick and snare perhaps)

I wonder what other ideas you have, because I'd eventually like to get the ball rolling with creating my own song based on this that I can use freely for my other projects. I would ideally prefer a more detailed analysis of the music theory. I admit I fear that the "magic" will be lost if I analyzed them, or at least I feel I may benefit from a fresh set of ears with analyzing these songs.

With regards to using LMMS itself I'll figure out my own way through it and use the appropriate forums. Thanks for your consideration in advance.

Here i disagree slightly.
Except for 'schlager-pop' most music is in minor. The simplest way to go is to use A minor (am).
With respect to music theory i made a couple of easy to understand videos:

Do not underestimate the importance of good percussion! In general you should work with your drum-patterns as much as you work with your melodies

Dont be. You will learn a lot from analyzing tracks you like. I also recommend that you try and recreate if not exactly, then with a touch of yourself. More like reinvent your most liked songs
