Those who produce your own music for projects

Working on a theme for LMMS? Post progress and get feedback.
What programs and equipment do you usually use?

I know sound for games is going to vary based on the project and on personal tastes and a number of other factors, but just looking for a good idea of what people find most versatile/most effective.

Is it more common to use instruments, or something more like a synth/midi controller/keyboard or even something like a Launchpad?

Personally i only use
* a few VSTs
* Audacity
* LMMS
Many uses some kind of MIDI-controller / Keyboard with or without percussion-pads. There are a lot of keyboards to choose from, but before you buy, it would be smart to ask users of that specific MIDI-keyboard how they access the usage in LMMS.
Over the years i have read post where issues especially with Pads ao pitch-wheels has been a problem, so dont just buy one !p

Besides that, since you are new in Forum

Useful information for me. I had problems with pads and pitch-wheels when I first started, but that's how I learn and grow.
I use

- only internal LMMS synths ( mostly ZynAddSubFX TripleOscillator Monstro OpulenZ ) under Linux
- internal LMMS samples and sometimes loops from looperman dot com
- LMMS synth presets from LMMS Sharing Platform
- qTractor for midi export when I do covers ( LMMS midi import works as well )
- used Audacity before, now I use only native VST from LMMS
- Masterization is made by external online service where I upload final mix and get boosted file back
- Brought recently an Akai LPK25 MKII 25-key mini Keyboard Controller that works plug and play with LMMS
- I have self-build python and bash scripts for song variations when I am stuck with my loop ideas
I'm a beginner.
